Default Full exhaust gain

ok. wondering how much a set of performance headers, into a full 2.5" exhaust into a dynomax muffler will pick me up (no cat)?

Seriously, it shed .400 off my 1/4 time...and i have a single cam. Weather was identical to my runs before the exhaust. Very worth it if you can find a good one.

Aside from the 91-92 model year headers for up to 1998 i believe and the pacesetter and hotshot for earlier years, OBX is the only one that makes a performance header for Saturns and i hear the welds suck on them. I'm sure the other guys can tell you why and/or how to have it installed properly so it won't crack better than i can.

you will gain stares from the chicks as you pass by with your cool exhaust note. that is all...

you will lose some low end torque and probably about $450 to have it installed.

you may even earn yourself a nasty backfire in the process...

Getz...Do you have a "full exhaust" with "header" and 2 1/2 pipe minus cats on your SOHC car

What did you shed for .400 off 1/4 mile

I did'nt see a header in the pics of your 2001 SL1.

the exhaust alone shed .400 off my 1/4 mile...i went from the terrible 18.58 to the less terrible 17.96, that was after i had my Thermal R&D catback installed.

As far as the header for my SOHC, no one makes aftermarket headers for SOHC. The stockies arent even worthy of the name "header". They are just cast iron POS .

This spring on ebay I bought an extra exhaust manifold for my 02SL1. This winter I plan on gutting the attached pre-catalytic convertor to see if any gains are possible.

gettz999.. Have you tried this yet

Im also kicking around the idea of getting an exhaust manifold from an earlier year SOHC without the attached convertor. Though I believe it would be missing the necessary tube that connects to the egr valve. I think one could drill a new hole, tap some threads and add a fitting to keep it functional.

Also, the manifold -to- downtube probably would exit in a different spot.

Anybody know if the exhaust manifold gasket mounting area on a 00-02 SOHC is different then 99-earlier SOHC's

I can't remember if the dohc and sohc have the same bolt pattern or not, but i know the bolt pattern design, for the dohc at least, changed in 99 and was the same for all saturns from the beginning to 1998.
