Default 1995 SC2 Snaping noise

I have a 1995 SC2 I bought for my son a week ago. 94,000.00 miles seems to be a nice car. Automatic, power everything. But sometimes when driving it it will snap or pop from under the car. Doesn't do it all the time,Sometimes when you turn or give it the gas. Can't tell where its coming from, sometimes sounds like it coming from the front sometimes from the side , The guy I got it from said he thought it might need a new moter mount? It looks like theres about 3/8 of an inch or a little more between the motor mount( Top Mount) and rubber. Is that normal?
Thanks Ron

Do a SEARCH of the board under "TAM" or "top motor mount" It will net you pictures and descriptions of the good the bad and the ugly, as well as directions (easy) on how to change it yourself.

ANything that results in a sudden torqing of the engine especially if turning can make a marginal upper mount reveal itself in the form of a pop, click or rubbing noise. Felt power train vibrations (rattles) in the interior, especially around the glove box area, are another sign. DO the search. It will tell you all you want to know.
