Default Oil Leak 2007 Vue FWD V6

Hello All,
I have 2007 Vue, FWD, V6 which recently developed any oil leek, from the middle of the car toward the front (about 2-3 feet from front bumper).

It is about the size of a quarter every few days. I put it up on ramps to check to see if I could see where it was coming from. The oil plug is dry. I think I did found where I think it is coming from and took a picture. Can any one identify what this area is (almost directly under the front console/cup holders)? I have attached a photo. Thanks!

We have the same leak on a Vue with 345k miles. There were some posts here suggesting either the main seal or the oil pan seal, I've been hoping it's just the oil pan.

Most 10+ year old vehicles will leak some fluids. If that's all you have, not worth fixing unless you are replacing the transmission because you have to take it out to get to the seal. You can try what the frog said, or some additive specifically made for leaking oil seals.

Toad, did you use any additives? Or just oil and filter change?

Itís your variable timing actuator. Itís a figure 8 seal right behind the crank on the firewall side of the engine. Not too difficult to replace.

Gary... is this something that could be mistaken for rear main seal? I do have a lot of oil at the inspection plate and to the back?

I have seen that leak, but it's nowhere near where he's seeing the oil drip. It's almost certainly the rear main seal. I'd switch to a high mileage oil formulation which should slightly swell the seal and may stop the leak since it's so small.

Best,
