Default If you could change one design element...

What would it be. For me, the large headlamps. Something like this would be nice:

Funny, Years ago I photoshopped the exact same change and posted it in this forum.Ironically thats why I had those vinyl overlays installed. We also own a black XR and I personally think the headlights look a little too much like bug eyes.

For design changes, I would chose to make better door lock actuators and also relocate the manual unlock button on the rear doors to the front of the rear doors instead of the back like they are now. A stupid design especially when combined with crap door lock actuators and the need to crawl into the back seat in order to reach and unlock the rear door

I wish they had produced the more Euro influenced original concept Aura. Most of those design elements are just now turning up here.

Some color to the headlamp bezels, rather than just a mass of silver, would probably help a lot for the headlight size.

Mine:
- Expand the trunk opening a little more (the bumper is high and the window low - not a very wide opening)
- Roofline and front seat are a little low, so for some passengers it's not the easiest to get in/out of (especially with no grab handle)
- Change relation between armrests/pedals/seat (wheel is a little high, armrests are a little low). A slightly smaller diameter steering wheel might do it.

Having read your posts mentioning the lock location, I happened to notice this is the case with a number of new cars nowadays when I was at an auto show recently.
Some cars don't even have the physical lock pull now.

The reason it was designed that way is because they wanted to eliminate body gaps and improve aerodynamics. There are clips moulded into the front fascia that snap into the bottom of the headlamp assembly to keep is close and tight to the headlamp. Aura's arent the only vehicles that are designed this way.

Headlamps are one of those things that usually only get replaced a couple times over the vehicles life anyway. My mothers 2002 Tahoe has never needed a single bulb replaced yet.

But to stay on topic. The trunk lid needs a way to open it manually from the outside.

I agree that the trunk needs a manual lock that you can put the key in and open it. The trunk key button doesn't work on my key remote. So, when I go to load the groceries I have to unlock the driver's side door and push the trunk button.

Also the center armrest and console is nice. But it needed to have been made more stout. I feels flemsy and squeeks.

I am late to the conversation, but I would have split climate control, driver 1/2 seat/pedal memory, some thing different than the mirror finish around the shifter (it is blinding when the sun is right) and tinted windows.

My wife is 5'3" and likes the temperature 5 degrees warmer than me. I am over 6'. I have become accustomed to moving the seat before getting behind the wheel.

You need the Scotch Brite treatment on the shift bezel. Search, there is a good write up to make it brushed.
