1996 SC2
Default Re: Did you buy your current Saturn new or used?

Got my 1996 SC2 used on the last day in December 15 years ago (1998) with about 34K miles on her. Didn't know until much later that I was driving the black special edition (with black emblems, power everything, leather seats, cruse control, ABS, TRAC system, ....). I just "saved" her with a 'new' used engine (97K miles) and 'new' front leather seats from a 2001 that matches very well...she has 184,449 miles on her right now and is driving pretty!

2004 VUE Red Line
Default Re: Did you buy your current Saturn new or used?

I had a 01 SC2 for a couple of years until I was in an accident and it was totaled. After that I bought a 04 Vue Redline. I bought them both used. The SC2 was from a used car lot that only sells Saturn s series and ions and the Vue was from a guy that repairs mainly Saturns and is referred to as Saturn Dave. It wasn't intentional that this happened but a funny coincidence.

1999 SL1
Default Re: Did you buy your current Saturn new or used?

Just picked up my first Saturn ever, 1999 sl1 last week for $900, has 139k miles on it and the service engine light was on. Ran the code and came up with 3 codes. O2 sensor, coolant temp sensor and Crank position sensor.
Just finished replacing the O2 and coolant temp sensor, disconnected the battery for 10 min and now no light. Seems I didn't need the CPS.
Cheap older car but I love it. Has great power and was getting 20mpg in town before the fix (had an issue with rpms dropping down right away, the 2 sensors replaced fixed that) so now hoping to get up to what they say it should be getting.
Really like what I have read about the Saturn and how reliable they are. Hope this one last as long as others.

I bought my 07 Saturn Vue with the V6 and AWD used from a BIG used car dealer here in San Diego in early October 13 with about 83K miles on it. This little Vue has just about everything: full leather interior, 6 disc changer in dash, fold flat front passenger seat, power sunroof, the slightly reclining back seats, tow hitch, the works. I think it even impressed the Service Manager at the Acura dealer I went to with questions on the engine and trans. It still has some issues I am working out, but I did get the dealership I bought it from to replace the THREE bad motor mounts it had... BOY DID THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!! It has plenty of power for me, gets 25 MPG on highway and seems to handle fairly well. Now I just gotta figure out and silence most of the thunks, clunks and rattles that it has and I will be a happy man. Still trying to figure out the personality of it though before I name it.... Although Kermit is in the running... It is the dark green and will go just about anywhere.

2003 ION-2 Quad Coupe
Default Re: Did you buy your current Saturn new or used?

Bought mine brand new in 2003! Ion 2 QC. Though They had to drive it from Harrisburgh to Pittsburgh to get the color I wanted and a manual, so I got it with about 300 miles on the odo.

Traded in my 1986 puke green Olds Cutlass (4-door none-the-less), They wanted to give me 350 for it, I talked them up to 500 bucks!

2005 ION-3 Quad Coupe
2001 SC2
Default Re: Did you buy your current Saturn new or used?

We currently own 2, both purchased used after Saturn went out of business. Just bought my son a 2001 SC2. I like it better than my 2005 Ion 3 Quad Coupe because it is a manual and doesn't have the pass lock issue lol The '05 is closing in on 80k miles and runs strong when she starts. (I've read the fixes, and will likely be doing one of them soon. Getting stranded for 1/2 hr durring a snow storm was about the final straw on that deal) The '01 has 142k on it and is so much fun to drive! Love the short gear throw and the torque this little car has. I'm confident it is going to last my son a good 100k more as long as he doesn't do anything dumb. It was a great deal at $2600.
We also owned a '97 SC2 several years ago that my husband picked up for $1200 as a comuter rig. It was a bit beat up and had an oil leak that caused the engine to knock when the oil got to low, but it ran great otherwise. It was our first Saturn and it sold us on the reliability of the brand.

...
2005 Ion3 Quad Coupe hate the pass lock! Wish it was a manual
2001 SC2 my son's first car! So fun to drive.
1997 SC2 Gone. This was our first Saturn. ran like a champ

I bought our 2001 L200 new in April of 2001, love it. 225,000 miles. It experienced the timing chain failure, but not covered by recall; GM covered half of new engine. Still getting 30+ mph. Still love it.

I just purchased this car with 150K miles. I had repaired an Ecotec in a 2002 L200 that had dumped a timing chain and bent a bunch of valves and was impressed with the car. I had my buddy watch for one at the auction and when this wagon came through he bought it for me. The bonus was the Roadmaster towbar brackets already installed! I need to repair the a/c and will be doing this soon. All the a/c parts are here, I just need the time and a new belt.

1994 SC2
Default Re: Did you buy your current Saturn new or used?

I purchased my 1994 Saturn SC2 used for $1550 on Wednesday. It was manufactured in Illinois in 5/1994. The paint is black and gold. It comes with power steering and windows, a sunroof, and cruise control. It has about 147xxx miles on it. There's no SES lights on, but today, I did an oil change and replaced the ECTS. I can't register it until Thursday so it's just sitting pretty until then, patiently waiting for her impatient owner.

Hmm, guess I'm a little late here. I purchased my SL2 nine years ago for $100 and an agreement to help with an oil change on an S10. It was offered to me because, at the time, my daily driver was an 84 Fleetwood Broughm in which the A/C had gone out. I had intended to drive the Saturn to and from work for the summer and either fix the A/C in the Caddy, and/or buy something else. I did buy something else, but I kept the Saturn too, and it's been hanging around ever since.
