Last tank was just shy of 33 MPG. KInda dismal for the SL1, but hit quite a bit of traffic snarl on my short commute a couple of those days.

I've got a stack of fuel receipts in the car that I never calculated. It always gets 30+ on the local commute, and up towards 40+ as highway miles pass 1/2 or more of most tanks. So I just haven't bothered to look at them all because I know the MPG return is always good.

I have an automatic and do not keep track of mileage anymore.

Did I just commit blasphemy by admitting that fact?

With the price per gallon in disastrous California - yes, absolutely! I'm enjoying Pennsylvania's 2.6 at Costco and still much worried for the MPG

The best I've gotten is 35mpg, with my owners manual sitting on my desk... does that help?

Yes, it helps. It makes me think that I'm fine with 34 MPG on my 98' SL2 automatic. And I wasn't driving alone and I wasn't all the time under the limit, to say the least

Last month I had a flight out of Milwaukee which was the first real highway trip for the $500 '98 SC2. Before and after that tank of gas I'd been pulling down a steady 28 for my twice daily 14 mile commute. On that tank I pulled down 34 MPG. If I assume 28 for my normal commute it worked out to 39 MPG on the highway.

I've been averaging 21mpg with my all city, winter blend gas driving. Really need to clean out the EGR. I know it probably wont help, but it also never has been.

I need to check mine again. I noticed that mine had dipped down, and assumed it was due to winter gas. However, I then realized the engine was running too cool. I've now changed the thermostat and the coolant. I still have a few days before I return to work, and really start using much gas again. I suppose I could get a number for in town driving. I've never really been able to check that.

Correction: The front tires are FireHawk. I parked on a cloth tailorís tape measure and the actual circumference is 76 inches = 833 revolutions per mile

Well I finally caught up with the stack of receipts from 2018

Low tank of just above 30 MPG in early January. We had single digit temps, and a few days of snow, which around here means no cleared side roads and crawling to work for days through rutted messes of snow and ice.

High tank of 37.8 MPG in July. It was also my tank with the most miles driven at 396 miles.

2018 average was 34.75 Not really great for this car!

Average cost per mile os 7.2 cents for gas only.

And the above explains one of the main reasons this "disposable" car is still around!

A bit disappointed.... in my last post, I mentioned the car was running too cool. I have since replaced thermostat, but it didn't significantly change the mileage. I filled up yesterday and calculated 30 mpg. I suppose I may not have filled the tank quite as high last time, because of being cold... when I was off work I got kind of lazy with that. I'll fill it, and check it again in a few days.

It could also be the winter gas.
