Question Turn signal bulb not working.

This might sound dumb but I'm having trouble getting my front right turn signal to work in my 96 SC2. I figured the bulb was out so I swapped the bulb but only The DRL part of the bulb is working when I turn the turn signal on nothing happens. All of my other bulbs work. I'm assuming the big bulb functions as the drl bulb and the turn signal. Any idea why it's not working?

When I first got my 98 SL2, I had the same issue. Ended up just being corrosion in the socket for the bulb. I just took a tiny flat head screw driver, stuck it in the socket and carefully scrapped loose any corrosion I could see on the contacts in the socket, blew it out, stuck a bulb back in it, and haven't had a problem since.

I think the DRL employs the Headlights.
The 'park' lights, and turn signal share a bulb with two filaments (i think!), located in the extreme edge of the headlamp fixture.

It is often the case that the signal filament fails before the park light.

Sometimes signal filaments fail to illuminate because they require more power, and that increment of power is not available via the common Ground connection.
The relevant ground connection is the forward lamp ground about a foot behind the headlamp assy atop the right frame 'horn' , secured with a M6X1 screw with 10mm hex. This ground is subject to deterioration because its contacts are not sealed from the weather/road-salt; my contacts were badly degraded by corrosion on my 2000 S.

I'd investigate possibility of socket issues as suggested by 98_Gold_Uranus; if socket OK, maybe check ground wire.

Keep in mind that the OP has a 96 SC2 with the pop up headlights. The DRL's are not associated with the headlights as they are not exposed in the daytime (when the headlights are off) like the sedan or wagon's would be. As far as I can tell the turn signal, parking light and DRL are one in the same using a 2057 dual filament bulb.

I do think you're on the right track with checking the dual filament bulb 2057, socket and the ground pack/ground wire. You may want to check the fuse as well; perhaps the turn signal has a separate fuse than the DRL.

So unplugging the entire side marker bulb assembly and plugging it into my other sc2 the turn signal and everything works but when I plug it into my daily everything but the turn signal works. It has to be farther down the line maybe there's a wire just for the turn signal that's frayed? Not sure but I guess I can live without a front right.

That was a good move to test the complete assembly ruling out the bulb and socket. The wiring for the turn signal comes from the UHJB following a path on the engine side of the radiator support. I would take a look at the related fuses in the UHJB as well as the test the wire for continuity between the fuse box and the light assembly. You should also look at the ground pack and the black wire that comes from the light assembly going to the ground pack.

I had a dead side marker and went through the same.

Check the ground that is on the front passenger side. On my SL1 it's clearly visible from above, but you might have to look a bit harder with those pop up headlights. On mine I cleaned up the ground and all was good again.
