That would be rear only and no junk in the trunk or passengers. It is best to always have matched tires on the front as you really do not want those differential pinions spinning away in there and cutting the diff pin roll pin.

It does look like tire rack carries the temporary spare. About $50 shipped.

Thanks OldNuc for that thread reference. Still thinking it over.

The T121 instead of the T115 is going to be taller and wider so the jack may become an instant issue.

The OEM tire is back ordered and is a 98.00 + extras tire.

A 135 15 tire will fit in the well and all you have to deal with is the jack

I probably copied the wrong link. From this link and screenshot, it is the right size. A real spare would be better, but it would be nice to not have to mess with the jack.

As long as it is maintained at 15-30 psi in the well and only run up to the 60psi required for use when needed they will last. Trunks are hot and that 60psi cold goes way up to the point of tread band failure.

jhonky,
I am not sure anybody was able to do a side by side comparison. For me, I am going to get a new temporary spare. I used my motorcycle type bead breaker and tire irons and was able to remove the old one easily. I'll put the new one on also, and skip the balancing.

I ordered the mini spare from tire rack Sunday evening. It showed up today. Maybe I'll make a video of the installation process. It seemed to come off a lot easier than I remember my motorcycle tires coming off.

Old thread, but still valid. 02 Saturn L300 135k, the T115/70R16 had thread separation. I have been looking at the Continental tires at $121 or there are less expensive T125/70R16 and T135/70R16. I am leaning on the T135 as it is a wider tire and have read good reports. This is our tow vehicle and I do not use it for daily transportation. I do load it up like a trailer though. Not interested in junk yard in SOCAL. Am I correct to keep the 70R16 value to make use of the existing rim? According to a conversion chart the L series has a 5-110mm pattern which converts to 5-4.33" centers with a center bore at 65.1mm Acorn style lug bolt. Need to keep the rim as off the shelf versions are 5 bolt w/4.5" inch centers (e.g. Walmart).

I had another tire go in my '98 SC2. So I bought another Kuhomo like I linked to above. I once again used my motorcycle tire irons. As shipped from tire rack:

Halfway on. Helps to have 3 irons, and 3 arms also.

Only need to seat the bead in this picture. I used some soapy water as a bead lubricant.

Hopefully I won't need to replace this one.

Sorry to keep adding on to this old thread, but does anyone know what the Saturn-compatible rim size I need for a 165/60/14 tire?

From what I can tell, the old Geo Metro is the only US model that ran those tires..... Do those rims fit?

The SL 14" rim will work and it fits the hub properly.
