Default Pressing lock/unlock buttons together - TPMS programming?

According to the TPMS, the PSI for my right front tire was not budging even after adding air repeatedly.

So the dealer looked at it and the service writer got in the car and turned the car to "on" and on the key fob, pressed both the lock/unblock buttons simultaneously. Then the other service writer went around to each tire with a gauge. They said the TPMS was not switched back after the tires were rotated, so it was reading the incorrect tire's pressure.

Can someone explain the key fob thing? I love programming Easter eggs!

Found more info. So this is how we reset our TPMS after a tire rotation. You don't need the GM tool.

Turn key to on and depress both the lock/unlock buttons on the keyfob. The car will honk and the display will display LF_____ RF______. This puts the TPMS into "learning" mode.

Go around to each tire with a large magnet (someone mentioned using a speaker magnet) and place it by each stem. The car will honk when the stem is locked in.

after rotate you should do relearn position procedure. thats what they did or it can be done at home. if you dont the low tire pressure monitor will still light up if you have a low tire but it wont know which one. relearn just tells the car which tire is in which position.

Is the procedure the same for all model years?
IIRC, the 2007 TPMS does not tell which tire is low.

Well you can tell by scrolling the menu. Just add air the the lowest PSI reading.

Scroll thru what menu?

I get the "check tire pressure" warning light along the symbol illuminated on the dash. I have no way of scrolling thru any menu to get any specific tire info.

This is why I asked if 2007 MY were exempt...

law says you have tpms but not that you can read it on the dash. for 2007 only the greenlines had readouts on the dash. 08 and 09 had readout. on my 07 i dont do relearn procedure when i rotate. the only reason you would would be if you had a fault code (blinking light) when they pulled a code in may say right front sensor not working but it may not really be right front sensor...

Did not know the 07s didn't have the DIC.

They do have the DIC. But I am sure it may be different on later models. the display is mounted on the instrument cluster under the speedo. I assume later ones are on the radio display. (like the Malibu)

The one feature I found diff was the low tire pressure one. It will warn of low pressure, but it will not tell you which tire.
