Hi Folks,
My SL1 runs great but the engine cradle is gone. Anybody out there have one?
Thanks,

Okay thanks, I am trying this!
The website asks me if it is the front subframe or the rear ("Rear SOHC, Rear DOHC") that I need. I didn't realize there were 2 subframes in the engine cradle?

Been a while since I had a SL1. I found a drawing, just to make it more confusing, it's listed in one spot as front and another as rear. I can't find any other reference to a "front engine cradle"
https://www.gmpartsdirectonline.com/...G/IB91110.html
I'm thinking you want the Rear one for your engine, DOHC or SOHC.

Pay attention to the upper transmission mount.

Earlier ones - and if I recall correctly, the 93 - the upper tranny mount - the dogbone attatches to the subframe - wheras the later ones - the dogbone attatches to the frame itself.....

Okay, so the upper transmission mount is a separate item from the engine cradle?
When I start to add up the number of parts I will need, the list seems pretty big.
Would anyone have a reference drawing for the upper tranny mount?

Take a look where your current upper mount attatches. Is it on the frame or the subframe?

You need to order one with the same mounting. It should come with it.

There are 2 subframes, 1 for the engine and 1 for the rear suspension.
For '93 there are likely 2 subframes for the engine, it was a changeover year both for the height the radiator mounts and how the upper transmission mount attaches (upper engine mount is always on the passenger fender/wheel well). Sometimes it has a bracket that goes to the subframe, other times it mounts like '94+ to the frame rail.
IMO don't worry about the radiator mount, if you get the high mount and needed the low mount it still clears the hood and O2 sensor; if you get the low mount and needed the high mount it just kinda swings with no factory way to secure it (just get straps from the hardware or car parts store).
...
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

Wow, thanks! I will examine the upper tranny mount tomorrow when I go to see the car (it's in storage).

As I recall, there were brackets that hold rubber mounts for the ?control arms and ?sway or stabilizer bar. They were all rotten, so I would have to replace them.

Are there mounts that mount the engine to the subframe? Likely I would have to replace all these as well.

Thanks to everyone for your great help!

Okay, thanks. If I can get to the storage today I will check these things out. Too bad Rock Auto doesn't have the subframe!
