Very Sad....

A wonderful man. His generous advice, and exhaustive knowledge,

I just have to put up a post out of respect to OldNuc. Haven't been on here in a while because I've been drivin' the wheels off my ol' '98 SL1, and it's taken very little maintenance compared to a couple tanks of gas per week. 2nd Saturn for me, so I've fixed 'em a lot, Lol.

When I popped on here today with a cracked radiator, his replies were the first ones I'd look for because I knew they'd be solid. Then, this thread . My thought, posting here, is when some family, or friend reads this, they too will be touched by this outpouring of others that Rich helped. There's a big smoking crater, left in his absence at saturnfans, but it's not a nuke, it's his heart. Rest in peace my friend, you will be sorely missed.... <3 !

So was OldNuc Rich the richpin of YouTube? If so, he made some great videos. Def was a staple of this forum. I didn't like how he berated my Chem Dip idea, but we can't agree on everything. 99 SL2 is still running strong, and consuming little oil at 363K, though. 😜 RIP OldNuc.

SaturnFans has lost a great friend. Rich was so knowledgeable and always so generous with his advice. I know that I will always be grateful for his help. Im sure his advice helped save many Saturns, and OldNuc will live in many hearts.

Thank you, Rich! You made our world better.

Wow.. I haven't been here in quite awhile... honestly been way too much stuff going on in my personal life...:/

OldNuc helped me out with a lot of questions and answers over the years...I think we even sold parts to each other at some point- within the past 5 years if I remember...

Damn! This sucks. He had a wealth of car knowledge. Granted we never talked in person... we talked quite a bit here and in personal messages on here.

Ugh.

Sorry to be reading this, under these circumstances... I've been dealing with a lot of my own personal losses, which I won't get into here...

Sorry to hear that he passed. Just know though- he is in a better place, and no longer has to deal with any of the pain that he had.

This is very unfortunate. I've never seen anyone with that level of expertise volunteer so much of his time to help strangers on the internet. I probably would not still have a working Saturn today if it weren't for some of those threads. I wish his family well.

Rest in peace.

This was like a kick in the stomach for me. When I had various issues with my SL2, I'd do a search here and most of the time he had already addressed the issue with his usual uncanny thoroughness. I drove the heck out of that car, and gave it to my son who drove it even harder, and every step of the way I knew I could always find those carefully laid out posts of his whenever I needed to.
We have been blessed at this forum with so many great people willing to share their time to help others with Rich leading the way.
He will be sorely missed.
RIP old friend.

Hopefully, these forums are archived for a long time so his knowledge can continue to help Saturn owners for years to come. It just goes to show you that kindness and helping others goes such a long way. He'll be remembered for a very long time.
He sure was, and it makes me appreciate the rest of the old pros here even more.

We will miss you Oldnuc. Your wealth of knowledge was always astounding. I always got the feeling you have forgotten more about Saturns/cars in general than I will ever be able to learn. Thank you for your willingness to help and give advice to anyone in need. Every time I'm searching this forum for answers I always look for your 2 cents first. Your knowledge and assistance will live on for as long as a Saturn is on the road.

Thank you Rich.

I thought the thread starter in the espresso machine forum might be interested to know that OldNuc passed away, so I created an account to mention it.
But apparently one of the mods there felt that it was somehow in bad taste, and deleted my post.
It's bs like this that is ruining the world.

I stand corrected on this, the post was deleted, but was used to start a separate thread. Good on the mods for this.

My heart is heavy to learn of this loss.

OldNuc was so generous and had such a talent to give clear info.

Helped me directly and indirectly, so many times.

I imagined he was like the person you see in the movies...who could disassemble and reassemble a pistol, blindfolded. I was sure OldNuc could do the same with any part of a Saturn.

Thanks for posting the photo, I can finally put a face to the name. He will be greatly missed.
