Default Anyone see the "Judge Judy" episode with the 96 S series today?

The case involved a really clean looking white 96 S series that was sold privately for $ 400.00. The buyer knew the car needed a new Serpentine belt and evidently an ECTS, but according to the seller, the engine ran great other than that. After purchasing the car, the buyer decided she didn't want the car and had it towed back to the sellers home. The seller couldn't get the buyer to pick it up and had it towed. Then notified the buyer where it was and the buyer let the car go at the towing company's lien sale. The buyer recovered nothing in this AS IS sale. How many members would have liked that car for $400.00 which is all the seller was asking? I bet quite a few.

I once heard "Saturn of Asheville" mentioned on Judge Judy referring to where a couple bought their Saturn they were having repo-ed .

Wow. Maybe you should take the bus or invest in a bicycle if you can't afford payments on a Saturn....

I did not see this episode but I saw another Saturn episode the other day.
Law&Order Criminal Intent featured a 96 SC2 that had been used in a suicide mission. The teens parked on some train tracks and it got smashed. They showed it all burned up and put some airbags in the side, I thought that was funny since of course they did not come with side impact air bags. They really burned that car though.

That's not the first time one's been on Judge Judy. I don't remember the whole story behind the other one, but it was a white first gen SC1 (I think it was a 93). I forget the whole story behind it, but involved someone rear ending someone in the Saturn and mashing up the front end a little bit. I think the owner was suing the person that wrecked it or something.

That seller (and Judge Judy) were totally in the right.

That's the thing about a private party sale, all sales are FINAL. For $400, the seller obviously wanted it gone, and gone quick.

Jeez, you can't just tow a car back to someone's house and leave it there. That won't undo your fickle personality and instantly entitle you to all your money back. It's not walmart people.

Having the car towed, that's a great ending. When the buyer comes back, the seller can say, "I told you I wanted it gone. Look how badly!"

------

Off Topic: Incidentally you should read the fine print at the end of those TV court shows. Both litigants are paid a handsome "stipend" to make it to the studio. What one party wins from the other gets docked from the "stipend". So both parties get paid to make fools of themselves. The producers don't want legally sound cases argued by smart people with some semblence of law knowledge... they'd rather have the "jerry springer" crowd.
