Limp mode or not

My1997 1.9 sohc sl1 automatic, has around 190k on it and is sometimes not accelerating like it should from a stop. when I start and press on the accelerator it will just not bring up the rpm and I have to take my foot off on the pedal and let the motor catch up once it does it is fine I can put it to the floor and it will take off and drive as normal it does not do this every time but it does at least once or twice a day. I disconnected the EGR valve connector and it is running fine.
1. by disconnecting the egr and having the SES light come on did that put the car in limp mode?
I have already put in a new brass temp sensor and the map is only about a year old.
if it does not put it into limp mode then I should be able to replace it and be okay if it does then I will need to test all of the inputs to the ECU.

Your SL1 isn't an L-series car and does not have any form of limp home mode. Repost again but in the S-series tech forum for more help there.
