Nothin'
my SL2 spends most of its time just sitting thesedays. It needs a clutch I think... Hard shifting into first gear still. Not as interested in driving it as I used to be. Although I still use it sometimes.

"Adjusted" the driver's side door main window gear so it would mesh in the middle of the motor pinion instead of on the inner edge and slipping inside of the gear and chewing up the teeth,

found out my front left brake line got knicked somehow ? spraying fluid everywhere. so i ripped it off and took it to advance auto and i was given 3 8" straight metal lines with fittings. now my sc2 is an 02(if the name didnt give it away) so i dont know how the other years are.. but that brake line looks like one of those crazy straws haha.. so i spent good portion of the day gettin the right bends in it by hand (no pipe bender). everything worked out so i cant complain, but my damn hands hurt! ha
also changed plugs and wires and changed oil with castrol syntech. Shes a happy car now ![]() |

Not much today (I helped one roommate replace a harmonic balancer on his 99 sable and helped the other roomate with a radiator job on his accord). But on Friday, I changed the transmission fluid in my SL2 5-speed from whatever was in there to Amsoil Torque-drive. Shifting is probably 50% smother now, I highly recommend it.

Finally got around to replacing my driver side door panel. Replacement panel has been sitting in my garage for about 6 months, but up until a couple of months ago, it was too cold to do anything. I think this was maybe 10-15 minutes
No more duct-tape bodywork from the previous owner ![]() I also replaced a light bulb - the odometer bulb. That was considerably longer - I was on my back a lot so I had to get up and stretch every so often. Took a picture of the back of the cluster so I can plan my LED conversion ![]() It's going to take some time getting used to seeing those bright numbers down there ![]() Then I put a little aerospace 303 on the dash, steering wheel, leather shift knob, front door inner panels and console.

Today, finished installing the front Quick Struts on my dad’s 1998 SW2.
For the last week ![]() De-scaled, wire wheeled then painted the engine cradle with rusty red and then gloss black. Re-sealed dried/cracked seam sealer in wheel well using olde tube of WindoWeld. - Then painted everything, including strut mounting surface. Also painted exposed/rusty brake lines. New (Chinese) Raybestos Rotors and OEM AC/Delco Pads, including re-lubing the caliper pins. New Moog Tie Rod Ends Added more moly grease to OEM Lower Control Arm ends…and painted them (and an old decorative milk can in the yard ![]() Painted Knuckles and chipped/filed the rust off the boot sealing surfaces. ![]() One side at a time...Using a JC Whitney magnetic camber bubble level, was able to perfectly match camber setting. Put car on hoist, raised it to comfortable height and un-plugged it. Zeroed bubble level on new rotor, then removed rotor to a safe place with bubble level still attached. Used a bubble level across lug nutz to keep JC Whit level perpendicular to the world. Used same to set Quick Strut back to perfectly same camber. ![]() Tie rod ends: One side at a time...Using distance from steering rack boot at tie rod to edge of threads on tie rod end... Made an adjustable gage out of bar stock held with binder clips. Adjusted new tie rod ends to perfectly match settings prior to removal. When he tried out his new Quick Struts, he said he could let go of the wheel and the car tracked perfectly down the road. – Steering wheel straight and everything! ![]() Will try the same for the rear set of Quick Struts… If the alignment is not actually perfect, it's darn close. After the springs have had a chance to settle, at least the alignment tech will only need to tweak it. |

Yesterday I put the car on the jacks. So for now its waiting for me.
Come friday I'm finally fixing a hole I have in the exhaust. Its actually a failed welding; my idea is to wrap a piece of sheet metal around it and fasten it using steel belts, hopefully it'll hold up. I really dont feel like changing the whole exhaust. And next project on that day will be to finally finish up my ignition system. I will be installing two switches - one for the instruments and the other for the radio. The starter already has a button, and the crazy part is that sometimes the car would start just by pressing it in, without pressing the cluch in at all... yet sometimes it doesn't work ![]() |

I found a 7/32 at Home Depot when I need to wire start the car... unfortunately it wasn't a screwdriver but a nut that sits atop one. It was too big to fit in the whole and I ended up having to break through the plastic. Tough love.

I have been having trouble with the right rear window working. Yesterday i pulled the skin off the door. Exposed the wiring to find only a crack in the power wire, so I spliced it just the same(might as well, I had it apart). I also changed the outside handle mech. cause the spring had broke.
Oh and I washed it like I do way to often, I like it to look good all the time. I don't like a dirty car. It will get dirty again today because it just started to rain.

by five speed, you mean a stick shift, right? (kinda out of touch when it comes to modern-day automatic transmissions.) it'd be interesting if it were a stick...
oh yeah, I took it out a few times today, once to get some groceries, the other to take my dad to work.

Definitely! 5-spd stick just like my Saturn SL2. It's a 2.4L 172HP Jeep Patriot, 4WD, twin cam VVT 4 banger. Will probably not make it to 243,000 miles like the SL2, but it may flirt with 29 mpg.
