Default Horn not working

My horn stopped working on my '99 SC2. I checked the fuse and it's fine, any other suggestions?

Horn relay? Try swapping it out for one of the others as they are all interchangeable. To test the horn itself, disconnect the plastic connector from the horn itself. You will see 2 metal electrical connectors. Using power and ground supplied directly from the battery via a wire..touch ground to one contact and hot to the other..the horn should sound. If it does not recheck your connections at the battery and try again to confirm. If it still does not sound remove the horn and take it with you to any autoparts store..they are pretty much universal fit but there are several different versions of the connector...buy the one that matches exactly (plug and play) should run you around $15.

Thanks, I'll try the relay, but which relay under the hood deals with the horn?

The underhood relays are labeled either on the fuse box itself next to each fuse/relay or on the inside of the cover.

Since '96, the horn relay is part of the horn. Best guess is a bad horn. To check it, remove (2) 10mm bolts holding the left headlight assy and remove the headlight assy. The horn is bolted to the left frame rail. Remove the (3) wire conn on the horn. One term should have constant 12v. One term should have constant ground. The third term should have a ground when the horn button is depressed. Can't remember off the top of my head which term #'s but with (3) wires it will be easy enough to figure out.
If wiring is good, horn is bad.

I am willing to bet that your horn is just bad. The brand horn that comes on Saturns is crap. I am now on my third horn. My brothers Nissan Frontier uses the same brand horn as Saturns. He is on his 4th horn. The bad thing is that wether you go to the dealer or a auto arts store, they all carry the same brand horn, so you are kind of stuck.

Post Horn wires explained

  • "A" (colored wire) - goes to power, hot at all times, for the horn
  • "B" (black wire, middle position) - goes to horn buttons (momentary contact switches) on steering wheel
  • "C" (black wire, outer position) - ground from the horn
If you want to add an aftermarket horn, tap into wires "A" and "B" on the horn wire harness for the new horn (or for the new horn's relay coil).

LOL!
But for idiotic drivers/pedestrians, the Horn's soundwave actually wake them up faster than Image from a finger......

I think that's the reason why they didn't see you in first place.

'99 Model MAY still under warranty, try to ask the dealer and see if they honor the warranty for horn replacement.
