Ran a 10amp fuse and holder with new 14 gague wire to the cigarette lighter from the UHJB on the 95. Will wait till it gets a little wamer to do the 97.
No more possible problems with F5.

0 Prefab: solder a ring terminal to a wire fuse holder. Solder and heat shrink the other end to a 14 gauge wire.
1 Remove cover to under hood fuse panel.
2 Look to the far right and you will see a red wire from the + battery terminal.
3 Remove fuse from fuse holder.
4.Loosen the bolt and hookup the ring terminal, tighten bolt.
5 Run wire next to main harness through grommet into car.
6 Remove fuse from passenger fuse panel for cigarette lighter.( 1995 was door locks fuse)
7 Remove cover from drivers side fuse panel area and look behind lighter for orange wire. (1995 color may vary)
8 Cut orange wire solder and heat shrink 14 gauge to lighter side of orange wire, tape up other end.
9 Install fuse near under hood fuse panel and wire tie installation.

Changed the worn Chinese Pepboy's belt tensioner with a Canadian made Gates one. Looks close like the OEM design, even has a 14mm nut

Also, SRGW, the "orange" wire is the power input correct? So the new wire being spliced is just a direct link avoiding all of the plastic connectors that risked melting. The Door circuit is still functional after right?

Swap-a-roo day..........

- Creampuff had a 9 year old AC Delco in it & was starting to turn over slow in the cold. The $400 donor '99 SC2 had a 3 year old NAPA Legend, so I swapped them!

- I put 2 new Thermisters (ECTS & IAC) in the donor SC2 while diagnosing. BUT since the problem was all forward cam rollers were off, I pulled them & will keep them as spares. Put the ECTS & IAC back in the donor car.

- I put in a new Fuel Regulator/Filter in the donor SC2 while diagnosing, so it's pulled out to save for later & the old Fuel Regulator/Filter is back in.

More swapping, coming up...

The best fuse box connection was my first question ( answered in SRGW's original post ), but my second question was the best place to attach the new 14g wire. I thought that direct connection to the cigarette lighter base socket would be best. Was not sure what was involved to remove the base from the dash and connect the new wire directly to the socket, which eliminates the OEM 16g ? wire completely.

Orange wire is 12 volt input feed to cigarette lighter, after taping up cut side (no shorts) reinstall fuse for door circuit.

Forgot one, lol...

Swapped Dipsticks as the Red Hot had dark burn marks on it and the one out of the donor SC2 had none.

Not too happy with the burn marks on the dipstick... Must've ran hot and/or low on oil too much, eh?

Swapped out the broken top motor mount for a new OEM one. WOW! It's like I have a new car! Night and day difference! Sooooo smooth now! Nothing inside the car vibrates anymore...it's so weird...

Oh and I also replaced the spark plugs with some new Denso's. SAturn rewarded me by turning on it's Service Engine Light

Oh well, I'll check that tomorrow. It usually does that when remove the ignition wires for some reason...

Replaced rotted rear brake lines. Turned out to be a mess. Both rear wheel cylinders were rotted, nothing left of the mounting bolts and bleeders. All the line mountings were shot, had to zip tie the new lines to what was left of the old. Front bleeders were rotted shut. Used a tool "brake free" to get these open.
Luckily the line burst in my driveway because the pedal went to the floor. This was on my 97 SW2 with 99000 miles on the clock, my winter car. Put the 99 SW2 to sleep for the winter.

Do you like Mud-Flaps? I heard you liked Mud-Flaps..

I had to colour match these, I think they Look pretty snazzy. Hopefully they'll protect the bottom of the bumper as well as keep the water splash down on the highway. Grabbed a pair without the red reflector for the front well's too, probably put those on at a later date.

I also swapped in SL2 front seats, they are quite nice, I can't wait for the 4hr drive to Dallas coming up
