Default Engine RPM stay up when clutch is in

So this normally happens after a long trip on the interstate but can happen around town. What usually happens is when I put the clutch in to shift the RPM go to about 2,500 - 3,000 and hold there for 5-10 seconds. I tried replacing both O2 sensors but still the same problem. Any Ideas?

Hi Jake ,
Welcome
.The high idle is a common issue. Frequently it can be rectified by removal , and cleaning of , the ThrottleBody, as the butterfly occasionally becomes entrapped in pools of accumulated sludge (fuel/oil varnish). AutoZone sells CRC Throttle Body cleaner , Berklebile(sp?) also sells similar ... Gumout carb cleaner will work.

Try to avoid contaminating the ThrottlePositionSensor with the solvent, as it can deteriorate it.

Other causes ... as intake man leaks are indicated if issue chronic with clean TB.

>>> indicate parameters like model/mileage/vicinity/mods ... if want relevant responses.
