Default got some subframes

I have a stack of clean gen1 and gen2 sub frames in Oregon. Not sure how much it would cost to ship one but I would be willing to do that. I'd accept $100/ea. each plus shipping. PM me of look for my contact info at DIYvan.com

All the best,
Hein

You have to PM Hein or send an email through his web site as he mentions. He doesn't frequent the forum very often since he no longer has a Saturn. Click the link for his contact info >> http://diyvan.com/

You're looking for a GEN1 subframe which he says he has. However all S Series subframes can be installed in any generation but in the earlier GEN1 (91, 92 and maybe 93) the radiator mount would have to be modified to accept a GEN2 or GEN3 radiator (and visa versa). I can't recall the cut over year where they changed; it is either 93 or 94.

Edit: I found this in a post. You can use a 94-02 but you have to modify the mounts to make it work. If I recall you have to create a shim to support the radiator.

Quote:
And it'll be a 1994-2002. Dont get a 1991-1993. The radiator side mounts are at a diffferent height. And it can come from a sedan, coupe and wagon.

I just bought one of his clutch holding tools and in the Note to Seller asked about the sub frames. No reply.
So, if you want a subframe, use the correct link.

Sorry I have not replied to everyone's inquiries. We have been super busy helping folks with their vans. I appreciate your patience.

I'm going to work with Bumpdraft to get an idea on shipping costs. Then I'll post those costs and some photos of the frames available.

All the best,
Hein

P.S. I do still have a 95 Saturn SC1 DOHC and some assorted goodies including an engine with forged internals that may someday find itself in that car.

Shipping those subframes would likely require a pallet and tie-downs, and would be determined by the weight, for costs.

Using Fed-Ex/UPS could get pricey, as it cost me over $70 to ship a lawn mower engine to my friend that lives in Indiana. To my knowledge, UPS has flat rates for shipping in the US. So, hopefully, distance is not an issue.

UPS is priced by zones.

Bus is the only viable option, maybe.

Or, Saturninin. I bought one from him last time.
If itís not practical to ship them, maybe Hein can keep them safe. Someone will eventually travel his way and move them a step closer to the rust belt where they are needed.

I got mine when I stopped in to have a chat at a parts place that had a couple of subframes according to car-part.com and they casually mentioned that they had a guy who'd regularly travel south for parts. This guy had picked up a subframe from South Carolina for someone who never bothered to come back, so he was eager to sell it.

I would've dickered but it was rust-free and I didn't want to lose out so $226 later, I gots me a subframe. I figure that with the trouble it takes to unbutton everything to get the subframe out, I can also replace the hubs, the struts, the springs and the bushings while I'm in there.

I've heard of people shipping items by way of Greyhound bus at very reasonable prices. Not sure if the subframe is too large for the belly of a bus, but maybe worth checking in to. I know doors and fenders have been shipped that way.

What are your package weight and size restrictions?

The maximum weight per package is 100 pounds. The maximum dimensions that we can accommodate are 29" H x 47" W x 82" L.

The cradle can be shipped. http://www.shipgreyhound.com/e/pages/Home.aspx There are several shipping options and if you pick the low cost Standard service these transit times apply: http://www.shipgreyhound.com/e/pages...rdService.aspx

More useful info:
What are your packaging requirements?

All shipments must be packed in containers made of durable material and of quality sufficient to withstand handling on buses. All packages containing FRAGILE or PERISHABLE articles must be marked in large letters, preferably with appropriate labels. See Terms and Conditions of Purchase and Carriage for complete packaging requirements. Additional restrictions apply for auto parts as listed below.

Auto parts will need to be tendered with OEM packaging. If manufacturing packaging does not exist we will accept at the shippers risk or at no declared value.

Should I leave my package open for inspection?

Yes, please leave your package open for inspection. Tape will be made available for you to seal your package after inspection. Greyhound Package Express reserves the right to open and inspect shipments when deemed necessary and to refuse those improperly or inadequately packed, damaged or containing prohibited articles.

Do I have to have the item boxed or crated?

No, but the item must be prepared with appropriate packaging materials in order to protect the item being shipped as well as other items traveling in the cargo space.

I do not have a rate table but if the corners are properly padded and you provide rope handles so it is easy to load it will ship fine.

Where in Oregon are you, Hein? I have a friend that lives in Yacolt, WA (not too far from Portland, OR) that travels back east with a pickup once or twice a year. My wife also has some relatives in Sandy, OR that might be able to help us also.
