Default Anybody tried this?

Ran into a guy at local Pick-A-Part that claims he can remove a 2.2 Ecotec out of a 2005 Vue with a manual transmission through the top. Says just need to pull off the mounting bracket for front motor mount, belt tensioner, alternator, A/C compressor, and front cover. Says its tight but way easier than dropping out the sub-frame.

Just curious if anybody had attempted this bit of a shortcut.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

My brother and I have used this method twice. Once to replace his engine and again to replace the clutch and timing chain in mine. Remove the hood and keep the ac connected, just zip tie it out of the way. Got to remove all motor mounts and the exhaust manifold too. Removing it gives you more room toward the firewall.
