Default Rear Main seal

I have a 2003 Ion with a 2.2 Eco Tech engine with a/t, has anyone have an issue with the rear main seal or the upper oil pan carrier leaking? I have had the lower oil pan seal replaced twice but still leaks at the right rear corner of engine where the oil pan and trans meet. You cannot get a good look at where the oil is leaking because of the way the engine and trans come together. I even used dye with a black light. I checked the surface with the oil pan off and didn't see any cracks or pits in the housings.

Default Re: Rear Main seal

someone on here had a problem with their ecotec leaking oil from seemingly nowhere and it ended up being porosity in the casting or a small crack, they couldn't determine which. other than that, these engines aren't well known for leaking anything, as a matter of fact, the ecotec is known for being relatively trouble-free minus the 02-06 2.2s ignition system and the 02s (in the L series and cavaliers) timing chain.

I have a similar problem. See my posts that explain it in detail. Did you ever find the root of your problem?
