I always use Mobil 1 or Pennzoil Platinum. I believe this one was Mobil 1.

For the record, I think I found the source of my above issue. The air filter is fine, but the last time I cleaned the throttle body, I forgot to tighten a hose clamp.

Previous oil and filter: Mobil 1 Extended Performance 5w30, WIX 51348XP filter.

Last oil and filter: Amsoil signature series 0w30, WIX 51348Xp changed after 1 year (recommended by Amsoil)

New oil and filter: Amsoil 0w30 and WIX 51348XP filter.

Oil use for both oils was my typical 1/2 Qt per 1,500 miles. The 0w30 oil use may have been a tad less than the M1 5w30.

Less shearing with the Amsoil than the M1 oil as expected.

out of curiosity has anybody gotten an oil analysis who uses an oil filter magnet? if so did it make a difference with the iron particles in the oil?

I bought a 1997 SL1 new. I changed the oil every 3,000 miles with Valvoline 5W30. The car has 330,000 miles on it and still runs good. I have to add a 1/2 quart of oil per week.

So, your sig says Valvoline HM 5W-30 + LM2009, but the report says Mobil 1 5W-30. Was this UOA M1 w/o LM? And was it the HM M1? Also, are you using the larger 20195 filter shown in your sig?

Some interval questions:
How long did it take you to reach 5544 miles?
How much make-up oil did you have to add?
What kind of air filter are you using?

That's all I got for now.

Oil used in OCI

Initial:
1 quart Mobil 1 HM 5w-20
3 quarts Mobil 1 5w-30
15 ounce bottle of STP High Mileage Oil treatment
Bosch Distance Plus D3422

2 additional quarts of Mobil 1 used for top-off during OCI

OCI duration, ~2.5 months

Purolator Classic air filter installed

Cleaned throttle body just a couple hundred miles before oil change and installed a fresh Purolator air filter

I add 2 cycle oil to nearly every fuel fill-up

My emissions are very low when tested by my Department of Motor Vehicles

Currently I am using the Valvoline with LiquiMoly and Purolator Synthetic filter. I did not use it in the oil analyzed.

Cool, thanks! A few more questions:

Why are you adding the STP?
Do you add the 2 cycle oil to the fuel? And if so, how does it benefit?

2 qts in 5,500 miles sounds relatively low for top-up (around here), and your numbers look reasonably good. Combined with your short amount of time (lots of highway miles?), why wouldn't you top up with M1 HM and extend out to 10,000 miles?

I stockpiled some products during the great $5 off $5 days at O'Reilly.

The 2 cycle oil seems to clean things up and help with emissions. Last test my old beast only polluted 15ppm HC. Pretty darn good. Oregon allows 220ppm. Also my car emitted zero Carbon Monoxide.

Check this site

http://www.ls1.com/forums/f48/been-testing-oil-91206/

I also have this device installed which may reduce emissions
