Default Spark plug very tight

I had trouble removing a spark plug out of one of the cylinders. After using some pb blaster and working the plug back and forth, the plug then came out.

While trying to install the new plug it was just as tight going in. I really didn't know any other way to try and install the plug without force. So I torqued the other 3 to spec and measured all 3 from the top of the plug to the exit of the hole. I then kept tightening the tight plug until it also reached the same depth. Any ideas on this?

The tight plug was probably hitting the range of 50 ft lbs. I did use anti seize on the threads.

It could bethat the old set was left intoo long and the threads in the head were damaged. At least you were able to install.

How long will your existing plugs last before you have to install a new set? Install'd copper, platinum or iridium?

Leave well enough alone until then.

I installed iridium plugs.

Thanks for the reply.

I just made sure to load up on anti seize for the tight plug.

I bought the car from someone who has the car sitting in a garage for a couple years. So who know how long he has the plugs in the car.

The car has 80k miles
