Default Transmission swap

Hello I have a 2005 vue awd with the 3.5 honda motor. The transmission has alrwady been changed once but is going again. Will the transmission from say a honda pilot or something else bolt up to the engine. Im aware that the transmissions are different but has anyone ever tried or considered a similar swap?

Your tranny is probably an MDRA - look for a sticker on top near the Fill Plug . . .

I would think an MDRA from a Pilot or other Honda vehicle would probably be a direct swap, although I don't recall anyone here actually doing this cross-brand swap. Btw - what is failing in your trannies - Torque Converter? We are doing an ATF 'drain and fill' every 25k mi. to prolong the life of these Honda trannies.

I'm new to this whole thing. I just know it bangs shifting from first to second occasionally and will occassionally chirp tires when shifting as well. And i had a friend tell me kt meant my tranny is going. Now i have a straight pipe woth stock resonator and a glasspack and a cold air intake on it but thats all engine not tranny. Do you know what year honda the tranny would be from?

I'm looking here, but I don't see any MDRAs used with any of the Honda 3.5L V6 engines . . .

Beyond that I don't know what to tell you. It looks like the MDRA was used in the VUE from '04-08 . . .

Would the bvga tranny from the pilot bolt up at least? Even if some modification is needed to get the wires right?

That's the scary part. And how different are the TCMs? Too many electronics in cars today that can be a big can of worms.
