Headlight - Flip/Pop Up Type
Yes, my time has come too.
Noisy rattle on close, like the motor did not get the signal to stop, then stops.
I know I can replace the gear, and I will, but....
Does anyone know how this electro-mechanical circuit works?
What tells the motor to stop? And if teeth on the gear are broken, why does the motor keep going, but after a while stops?
Also, is it ever the case that this happens after opening?
Opening is okay for me. So that may have to do with where the teeth broke on the gear.
I can't find the post now (I suck with the search engine), but someone said they would post the circuit if asked. I'm askin'.
(Thanks to mramay for the pic)

Re: Headlight - Flip/Pop Up Type
Hope these help, though I don't believe they describe exactly how the controller knows the doors are up or down.
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)
