Trust me everybody does it. (well not the ancient old Sub- it was hard-wired)
Whether you noticed or not well...

Not saying you might not have a problem with YOUR gage but comments you made questioning whether it's normal for the gage to take time to update towards a correct value are common automotive electronic filtering techniques. It's fine if you don't believe me...

I've been to Dallas, you can't put laser level on pretty much ANY part of it's roadway system. LOL Would you want you fuel gage chasing the bubble on all those crazy flyovers near the DFW airport?

It's not that I haven't noticed. This has been a huge issue in our day to day life right now. We have two other cars parked next to the Saturn and none of them have the issue. It's fine if you don't believe me as well...

We aren't trying to make a fuss over nothing. And I like the Outlook and wish this problem didn't exist. But it does for us. And it does not correct itself over time. I can drive 40 miles and the gauge doesn't move from Full. I can park it one night with half a tank. The next morning I've got less than an eighth and won't correct itself after driving 20plus miles or turning it on and off. By the time I "think" it corrected itself, who knows how much gas I really do have left?

Not seeing this issue with ours and it's been parked on some significant slopes.
The lot at my kid's practice field never saw a level doing it's construction.

However, the DIC range estimate jumps a bit from shutoff to restart,(either up or down), but not the fuel gauge.
The DIC does seem to correct after driving a few minutes.

Question Re: Fuel Gauge Problem: Update

i just started experiencing this issue on my '07 Outlook XR. Thing is, the last time I had it in for an oil change I had them double-check the software on it and they said they updated it to the latest... Before that "update," i had no problems w/ the gauge

Anybody know of the solution to this issue? I read somewhere already that it required a full replacement of the gas tank? Mine just went out of Warranty so I'll really be bummed if this is the case!

...
+rep always appreciated!

Wrench Re: Fuel Gauge Problem: Update

I'm having the same exact issue. When I'm at a quarter tank it actually means I'm empty. The reader moves up and down randomly at times while driving. This problem has actually left be stranded a lot of times because it changes over time. Now it sits a little above quarter tank when it's empty. I was stranded on the road again on 8/18/15. Just a few days ago. I keep a gas can filled up in my trunk. It helps especially for the times that I run low on cash and have to wait for my next fill up.

"...I keep a gas can filled up in my trunk...'

Very very dangerous in this single (confined) space, we know as a 'Outlook' imho
