Default Saturn L300 Oil on Middle Spark Plugs

Hello,

This is my first time on the forum.

I have a 2002 Saturn L300 3.0L V6

I was changing the spark plugs and I found oil on the two center plugs. I immediately thought valve cover gasket or spark plug tube seals. I attempted to change the valve cover gasket, but I could not get to it. There is just too much to take off and then the brackets to raise the engine prevented me from reaching crucial bolts. That was just the front cover the back is a whole other beast.

Has anyone encountered this problem? If so, what did you do to fix it? Also, I could not find spark plug tube seals that fit the make and model of my car for sale anywhere, just the valve cover gasket and grommets.

Thanks for the help.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

The fix for the issue you're having is replacing the spark plug tube seals, which requires doing the valve cover gaskets, the tube seals are 6 small o'rings that come with the valve cover gaskets, its really not that hard of a job, it just takes time as there is lots of things on top to remove. I actually found the rear one to be easier than the front. Be sure to apply a small layer of sealant on the new valve cover gasket or it will come back, it took me about 4 1/2 hours in the middle of the night. Most shops will quote you around 450-600 for this job, I'd recommend having the thermostat done as well as new spark plugs when doing this!
