Default sl2 alternator help

Long time reader, first time poster (newbie)
Lost my l200 in the divorce and I missed her so much (the car)
so I bought an sl2 and started wrenching with the help of this great forum.
but now I'm stuck! Can you please help?

1- I have a stray terminal connector that is red in color. It has two wires one solid brown, one solid white. I labeled it as alternator, but don't know why 'cause while it is near the alternator/ p.s. area, I see nowhere for it to plug into. Where is it supposed to connect to? Is it for the idiot light? Wish I hadn't been so hasty in my removal.

2- when turning the key to run, the fuel pump will make noise, but only the first two or so times. Could this be a problem? In my Chevy Colorado, it makes noise every time.

3- if a man says something in the woods and there's
no woman around to hear him, is he still wrong?

PS 99 sl2 automatic - fuel system has return line, fresh fuel
spent 5k on rebuild of engine, trans, parts etc. Itching to crank it...
promise to post pics when my new SD card comes next week.

Thanx in advance.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

1) The "socket" for the connector plug is recessed into the top side of the alternator and is not easy to see.
2) Could be that your fuel delivery line is holding pressure well enough that the pump doesn't need to pre prime.
3) If you need to ask then of course he's still wrong

Red 2-wire plug goes into the EVO solenoid on the power steering pump. It may have looked/felt like it was on the alternator, it isn't. Hope you have small hands, unplugging it is the easy part unless maybe removing the alternator makes it easier.

1st and 2nd gen alternators have 3 wire plugs that I believe are black in color; not sure on the 3rd gen's.

...
The proper way to fix a S-Series automatic is to replace it with a 5spd O:)

You were exactly right, not sure why I labeled it alternator, guess 'cause it was above it. and I couldn't even see what I was unplugging.

Thank you
