YES. My '02 SC1 makes my 3rd Saturn. Also my 63rd car. Bought a '04 Ion Coupe new. put 11k on it then traded it in on a '04 Ion Redline. Had to sell the Redline.

My first car was a '79 BMW 733i bought in '95
2) '85 BMW 735i bought in '95 (rare 5-speed - should've kept it)
3) '90 Chevy Lumina Euro
4) '96 Chevy S-10 (new)
5) '95 Olds Aurora
6) '89 Grand Am SE Turbo
7) '96 Hyundai Elantra (5-speed)
8) '87 Cadillac Brougham d'Elegance
9) '88 Cadillac Coupe deVille
10) '92 Plymouth Grand Voyager
11) '85 Cadillac Seville Touring Sedan (rare - should've restored it)
12) '85 Cadillac Eldorado
13) '90 Chrysler 5th Avenue Mark Cross
14) '92 Chrysler LeBaron convertible
15) '92 Honda Accord LX
16) '88 Lincoln Town Car
17) '95 Chrysler Cirrus LX
18) '02 Saturn L200
19) '97 Ford Taurus SHO
20) '96 Mercedes C280
21) '93 Acura Vigor (5-speed)
22) '91 Cadillac Sedan deVille
23) '06 Chevy HHR LT2 (new - early adopter - Lemon Law)
24) '03 Subaru Baja
25) '06 VW Jetta 2.5 (new)
26) '01 Olds Aurora 3.5
27) '97 Dodge Intrepid
28) '99 Chevy Cavalier Z24 (5-speed)
29) '01 Olds Intrigue GL
30) '92 Olds 98
31) '04 Saturn Vue FWD V6 (current)
32) '05 Saturn Vue Red Line AWD (current)

I don't think I've missed any, but it's possible... lol

Of the many I've owned, there were a few that stood out. I'd own these again given circumstances: '85 BMW 735i (5-speed), original Aurora, Acura Vigor (5-speed), '96 Taurus SHO (equipped the same as the one I had - LOADED) '85 Cadillac Seville - with an Olds 307 or 350 dropped in or fresh rebuilt HT-4100. Maybe another 5th Ave of the same vintage - there was something about that car I really liked.

Default Re: Before you bought your first Saturn, did you own an import or domestic vehicle?

1) 1965 Chevy Chevelle{Bought for $10, and Towed way for $10.}
2) 1995 Dodge Spirit
3) 1995 Plymouth Acclaim
It got good gas mileage, was roomy enough too fit 4 large adults.
Plus, you could have the front seats all the way back, and the people in the back seat still had plenty of room for they're legs.
Like the Spirit it had the 4 Cyl 2.5L Engine.
I'd still have it, if not for the idiot that rear ended me.
Totaled it out, and I had just done a bunch of the normal maintenance into it too.
4) 2002 Saturn SL1 1.9L SOHC Automatic transmission.
{I paid way too much for it}
Quote:
2002 Saturn SL1.
Purchased at: 168K
Currently at: 173K

Exterior
It has a Rear Quarter panel that is damaged, and will be replaced with a good panel.
A Rust Spot that will need to be cut out and good steel put in.
Plus, it will need a Paint Job.
Wheel Covers are scratched up and paint is pealing off.
{They need to be sanded and repainted}
Polish the lenses on the lights.

Interior
The Steering Wheel Instrument Switch Cluster needs to be tightened down.
There's a burn hole in the driver side seat. So I'll look into getting some Seat Covers for it.

It will need a lot of maintenance.
Load Test the Battery to see what kind of condition its in, and if it needs to be replaced.
{CAN PUT ON HOLD}All new loaded Struts, and Suspension parts.

It's got a good MPG Rating 29 City/38 Highway.
So, it'll be good on gas.

It isn't as good as I hoped to find.
But I beat the guy down from $3500 to $2220.
So, I saved $1280.

But after doing a ruff estimate of all the work it needs.
I can see tacking on another $2500 or $3000.

Edit:

Exterior Work Completed
Replaced the broken front left Marker Light.
Replaced Wiper Spindle Cover.
Replaced the broken Radio Antenna with Original Stock Antenna.
Replaced broken cowling, and missing screws for it, and repaired door moldings.
Replaced front Fender Wheel Well Liner.
Got Replacement plastic fasteners.

Interior Work Completed
Repaired: broken Arm Rest on drivers side door.
Programed extra Keyless Remote for the car.
Replaced Baby Seat Hook Cover{Painted black}.
Replaced the torn Door Gasket on the drivers side door.
Installed: Steering Wheel Cover.
Installed: Good set of Floor Mats.

Maintenance Work Completed
Installed: New set of Spark Plugs and Wires
Installed: New set of Tires \ Balanced & Wheel Alignment.
Cooling system flushed & refilled.{Three Times!}
Changed: Motor Oil & filter. {Three Times!}
Checked: Serpentine Belt is still good.
Checked: CV Joints are good.
Checked: Suspension is worn, but I can let it go for awhile, till I get the other things taken care of.
Checked: Brakes still have plenty of pad left.
Replaced: Gas Cap
Transmission Flushed & New oil and Filter.
A/C recharged and checked,{Hopefully there isn't a leak}
Front Hub Wheel Bearings replaced.
Replaced: Air Filter
Replaced: Wiper blades
Replaced: The Blown Radiator, Plus, Lower & Upper Radiator Hoses.
Fixed the EVAP Leak{Found Bad Vent Purge Valve, and loose vacuum hose.}
Fixed the Oil leak{ARG! Head Gasket, Timing Chain Cover, Front Seal!}
Cleaned: Throttle body.
Replaced: Fuel Filter.
Cleaned: EGR solenoid that was sticking.
Replaced: PVC Valve that was bad.
Got a Full Size Spare Tire to replace the Emergency Doughnut Tire.
{Only needed to modify the Spare Tire Well to get it to fit}
Piston cleaning procedure completed.
Will keep checking oil level for burning.
But, so far after about a hundred miles the level hasn't dropped.

I used to own a full sized van. I was looking for good gas mileage. I went to a Saturn dealer and bought a sl-2 with 100k miles. It's been the best performing car, I have ever owned.
