Default Tinted Taillights

Do you guys like them? Took me 2 days to get the transparency and the "two tone" look I wanted.

The 'Twin Cam' logo still shows through.

2 coats of Cherry red spray paint and 4-5 coats of clear coat.

I later bought a can of red "Nite Shades" for my other cars and projects I'm working on.

The car was dirty in this picture. So the lights are a little dirty and not so shiny. I can add new ones.

In the new ones I'll post, I tinted the reverse lights blue and fixed my trunk. My rather large friend sat on it and broke the spot welds, so it sits offset in this picture.

This is great for when someone rear-ends you. Then they can claim they couldn't see your brake lights and they're off the hook! Not to mention your insurance company will probably drop you...

And blue reverse lights? What, just to look cool? How much do you back up that you think diminishing the output of your reverse lights will make you look cool? It'll be really cool when you back into something at night.

Cars have lights for a reason. Making them harder to see just makes you less safe.

Honestly, did you even look at the picture? I didn't tint them black like a dumbass, I tinted the yellow blinkers, red. Which is perfectly legal and you can see them just fine in full sunlight (I had my dad check). And I only clear coated the brake lights because they were faded. I can see fine while backing up. Next time you see an older stock VW Golfs have blueish tint on them.

Sir

When I clicked and enlarged the photo the first thing I saw and liked
was The Tow Hitch and Trailer Light Connection. To me this was an
pleaser.

Yep, I use it all the time for towing my fishing boat and the occasional dump run.

The double color filter on the turn signals will diminish overall output.

While blue tint/lights won't get you pulled over by itself, it can be added to the ticket if you get pulled over for something else.

Have you thought about putting a solid color panel from a SL/SL1 on instead of that giant reflector?

I went to the local cop shop and had them look at it and they approved. But they said I need to have front turn signals. The turn signals are bright enough. I made the coats of red really light.

I did, but I don't really like the look of it. I also thought of painting it black or having a carbon fibre one made by my friend. Real carbon fibre, not the wrap.

And, Behold, A picture of the blue reverse lights. As you can see, they are Barely blue, and very transparent.

I'm not usually a fan of tail light tints and stuff like that, but you did a great job on it. Not overdone, like some that we see

I tinted my tail lights but differently, I really like them! I hate it when people try to lecture me on things I already know what would happen IF something were to happen.

I saw the pictures 9 months ago, you know, when the OP was made (this thread is from October 2012). Not only that, but I only live a few miles away from him; I've probably seen the car in traffic and not realized it. I'll have to make a mental note of the plate and hitch.

The first five words in the OP are "Do you guys like them?" I just answered the question, in detail.

Nah, unfortunately, I had to get rid of it. Just had too many problems forming that I just couldn't keep up with. Plus a fire from the hack-job fuel pump wiring . But keep an eye out for my 93 SC.
