Ignition Cylinder
I have a 2003 Saturn Vue. 2.2L AWD Automatic.
I want to know if it's ok for me to remove the ignition cylinder so I can take it to a locksmith and have it rebuilt to the keys I have. Will I need anything reprogrammed at all? ... 03 Vue 2.2.

I took out and cleaned the ignition cylinder in my 2007. It did not require any reprogramming or anything.
A couple of thoughts. Mine was sticking and not always easy to remove. Cleaning it brought it back to life. (there is a thread here somewhere with a GM service bulletin on how to do that). I also got a new key made from the VIN. The old key was surprisingly worn down. Wouldn't the door locks also need to be changed to match the new keys?

Most locksmiths will be able to do this for you or you can go to dealer and they have correct keys to make new cylinder match your key that you have. Make sure you have correct papers on vehicle to prove you own it and have a new key cut with vin and everything will be correct. They are really tightening up in Louisiana with all the theft of autos here so there is paper work requirement. Heck I could not even get sisters car towed because it was in her boyfriends name and he was out of town. They would not except his phone call as proof. We had to get a trailer and tow home our self.

I got the ignition cylinder removed, cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. No better. Can still pull the key out and so on. So I'm gonna have it rebuilt to match my keys.
... 03 Vue 2.2.
