What is this
I wasn't sure what this component was under my hood. (red arrow pointing to it in figure)
It is humming when I turn my car both on and off but it eventually stops. Thanks a bunch... -Chris ... 2001 Saturn sl2

It is an air pump, used to pump air into your exhaust. It is for pollution control.
