2007 ION-2 Sedan
Default update for those interested

LEDs are still holding strong. the only tricky one to keep an LED bulb happy in is the license plate light. DRLs, brake lights and rear blinkers are all holding strong for a year and a half. be careful to do research, buy quality over cheap, and buy a bulb that will PERFORM the same as what you're replacing. after a couple attempts to replace the CHMSL, I have found it a bad idea. it's hard to get LEDs in that spot that will perform the same, but it will also disable cruise control unless you use a load resistor.

Which LED's did you put in for the front turn signals? I'm looking for ones that either have the resistor built in or are compatible with our cars

I don't use resistors, they just waste the energy you save with the leds.

I just let the blinker blink fast. any bulb that doesn't make it blink fast just has a resistor in it.

I use 3157-R18-T and 3157-A18-T from superbrightleds.com, and they outperform the stock bulbs in the brake lights and rear blinkers. don't replace just the front, also replace the rear (stock bulbs can't keep up with the faster blinking, anyways). you might want the 45 LED bulbs up front, but the 18s do pretty good. the only thing I had to do was trim the sockets' lip a little to let the bulbs, it's not an important part of the socket, and you can still go back to stock bulbs later if you want.

I'm going to replace the rears with full LED replacement lights

http://www.ebay.com/itm/290667638936...ht_5527wt_1139

So I'd rather have the slower blinking though, I don't think I'd ever get used the to "psycho blink" I guess I'll keep looking till I find a set of front LED's I like

don't. those list they work on sedans and coupes, that's impossible. I don't trust that seller. also, if you run the numbers, you will see some pretty impressively lower peak amp draw. this makes the strain on the alternator a lot less, and can even help increase gas mileage.

The seller is selling both coupe and sedan style tail lights, so i'm guessing they're too lazy to make 2 separate ads, I'll contact them to be sure but the picture is for the sedan lights, a separate post he has the coupe lights

So to clarify, when you replace bother the front turn signals/DTRL's and rear turn signals/brake lights, things fit just fine but you get "hyper flash"? I've been considering doing this for a while.

Thinking of getting the 45's too. I like "Superbright". lol

update: superbrightleds now has a direct replacement for the CHMSL. I upgraded the brake lights to the newest style with more output (and more draw) and it allowed me to run all but 2 bulbs (not counting headlamps and fog lamps) as LEDs. I had to leave 2 CHMSL bulbs as incandescent to retain cruise.

sorry, silverspectre, yes, the blinkers just blink fast. I had to trim the socket (they had extra tabs of plastic that were not necessary for the retention of the bulbs), but it's not hard to trim.

I also modified the CHMSL with a piece of aluminum foil to stop so much of the light from going down and back, and into the cabin. depending on how well it works, I may just use a piece of sheet aluminum.

I just installed those eBay led tail lights on my 05 ion sedan. The fitment was good and ill see how long they last. I'm kind of a noob with LEDs, lights, etc the only thing I wasn't sure about was there was a small square black box( balis(?) looked like a small battery pack attached to a green wire inside the housing of the tail lights. It had sticky tape on one side and wasn't sure what it does . The stock tail lights didn't have them so guessing its something with the LED.

not sure what a balis is, but I'm sure that is a load resistor so your blinker doesn't blink fast

I used 3M double sided sticky tape...3 years ago, no more red light in my rearview when I hit the brakes!
