Barum - Bravuris
Well, I went into Discount Tire looking to spend $750+ on some tires, but came out spending $300 when all was said and done. I have the 225/40/18s, (I guess that size doesn't actually show up as an option in their system) and there really isn't many options that keep the wallet happy. Anyway, he was ringing me up for the Conti DWs and the manager came over and told me that he had some discontinued tires up in the racks that he said were my size and wanted to get rid of. He told me that I could have them for $400 with a $100 mail in rebate, so even though I've never heard of Barum Bravuris, I had to take the deal. These tires grip something fierce and look cool, but are kind of noisy and ride hard; but again, I cannot complain at $300.

I had purchased triangle-tr968 (225/45r17) http://triangletire.com/tr968.html last summer and for 80$ a tire they are really sticky and have great wet traction

The Barum tires are made by Continental. Take that for what you will. They are made in the Czech Republic, though. Labor rates and an unknown name make them cheap, not poor workmanship or materials.

I got my Continental Extremes for 599 a set. I think I got them on TireRack.

When you go to Discount Tire, bring them a printed price from Discount Tire Direct. Often, they will match the price on the tires, sometimes they will match it and throw in installation. That's the path I'm going to take on my next tire purchase.

I have Barum winter tires, they are great! Cheap Euro made tires (Czech) at Continental Tires quality.
