2000 SL2. Codes P0108-MAP high. P1404-EGR closed. P0404-EGR Ctk Range/Perf.
Current condition. Stalls at idle & low RPM. 2 weeks ago. Felt like engine was choked going up hill & some times on acceleration. It felt like a possibly clogged exhaust. Today eng stalled at low RPM. Does any of the above codes trigger the other? Which code should be checked first? Is there a most probable known cause for these codes?

Any parts replaced?
... *The CPS is the heart of the entire EFI system. No cps = dead EFI system* *There's more to a/c than just a few cans of refrigerant* *There's more to brakes than just replacing parts*

No, as you can see there are two error codes.
Among the first things to do/check are whether the original faulty round nosed plastic coolant sensor was ever replaced with a flat nosed brass one and thermostat (195F). Both (old parts) run the engine cooler than normal (needle on the 1/4 mark?). ... *The CPS is the heart of the entire EFI system. Its asked for any S-series member to rule it out if not mentioned in posts. You have no idea how many members skip over this sensor, assuming everyone knows. Its easier to simply ask at the beginning. With the coolant sensor out of the way, troubleshooting can resume.
Pull the map sensor off and check the little hole used to monitor pressure/vacuum in the intake manifold. The rubber gasket shouldn't be old and suffering from dry rot otherwise a vacuum leak occurs and throws the map sensor off. The map sensor is sensitive to vacuum and pressure so any vacuum leaks anywhere in the intake manifold is detected and skews the signals going to the pcm. Technical testing requires a multimeter to measure signals while applying suction/pressure. Replace it if in doubt. Search for egr valve cleaning. Its either the mechanical pintle valve that's sticking and needs cleaning or the position sensor inside the housing that failed. ... *The CPS is the heart of the entire EFI system. You nailed it! Thanks. Carbon in the EGR & map sensor clogged. Cleared codes. All is well. Thanks again.
