2001 SC2...need a keyfob, lost by prior owners.
I understand that this has to be programmed by a dealer...or someone with a Tech II programmer....whatever that is. Keyfobs are east to come by, isn't there someone out there who can program one? Thanks.

You can do it in 5 minutes if you have a paperclip. All you have to do is bridge two pins on the OBD2 connector and hold down the lock and unlock buttons on the fob. It's been a while since I have done it, so search around for the exact procedure.

OP - check around local shops, many professional shops will have the tools. Whether they have the know-how is another story, but it's worth asking around. Finding someone on the forum that has the connections to do the programming isn't going to help you unless they're fairly close, since they have to have access to the car to program it to the fob. You could almost certainly get it programmed at any GM-branded dealer (Chevy, GMC, Cadillac, Buick), but it's somewhat likely that a smaller shop would be cheaper (still worth a call to check their price though). Shop around, prices are likely to vary a lot. ... SaturnSeries.net owner

I've seen people saying they've been charged anywhere from $25 to $125 for the rather simple procedure. A small shop is more likely to charge actual time used, a GM dealer is more likely to charge 1hr at their inflated hourly rates.

I guess that's one more reason to add to the "why to not buy a 3rd gen" list.
Pardon my ignorance, 90% of my experience has been in the second gen. ... I have one 1ST GEN EGR Vacuum Solenoid and many other parts (2 parts cars) PM for details. Mild: 1998 SL2 Auto - 179k Wild: 1993 Geo Tracker 4x4 - 130k

Not a problem...should have stuck with a 2nd generation.
BUT, I just live the later body style...and sleeker features in general. Worth the extra hassle to me. My son's '99 RULES, though! RBar
