03 Ion-3 Still wont start

Greetings, I am the first/only owner of a 2003 Ion-3 which is nearing 120k.
Last week, it decided to not start. I still had lights, radio, etc. So after going online I found out about the ignition switch & ordered one from Amazon.
It was the AC-Delco one & the installation went fine.
However while resetting the Passlock, it never started. Instead I went from full power & no start to almost no power. (still have dome light, check engine light, & service vehicle / Power Steering message).

I read a similar post here which was fixed with the Duralast brand switch over the AC-Delco one. I purchased a Duralast switch today & installed it with the same result as the other switch.

Even a jump-start doesn't bring back the door's ding sound, let-alone allow me to start the car.

Does anyone have any thoughts on what my next course of action should be?

That would suck. What everyone usually checks/replaces before realizing the ignition switch is bad may actually be the problem this time... for once.

Yes, that was the case.

I was unable to recall if I had ever replaced it. Turned out, it still had the original battery.
After putting a new one in & resetting the Passlock, it started right up.

Good to know the original AC Delco Battery has/had a life span of 9-10 years. I lost my nerve after (I think) 7 years... it's always when you last expect it to die... it does.
