Default O2 sensor removal

Friend of mine has a 2006 ion and needs an O2 sensor replaced, front one. No biggie i say, easy job. Since on my SC2 it is right in the front and an easy change. Not so on the Ion, it is in the back of the motor. How in God's name do you get that off? Trying from the bottom of the car, one bolt one the heat shield easy to remove but the other is from the top, how do you get that? I have the slotted sockets but can not get a ratchet in there to get the O2 off. HELP. I am assuming with the heat shield off it may be easier but not sure, no room in there.

REWARD EXCELLENCE!
