2001 SL2
Default SAIS annoyances

For over a year I've been tormented by the P0410 trouble code (and I know I'm not the only one) by my 2001 SL2 auto. But I was wondering, is there any way to trick the PCM into thinking that it works fine, shuts on and off when it's needed?

Reason I ask is because in my old Toyota 4x4, I had accidentally ripped a wire to my driver's seat buckle light and the light never came on again. Is it possible to have some similar experience without having to switch PCMs with a SL2 that doesn't have the SAIS?

Any help would be appreciated. (I did subscribe to that P0410 thread, but there haven't been any updates for a long time as far as my email's letting me know)

What have you done so far to try to fix the problem?

Replaced the EGR valve, ECTS, AIR system relay and air pump, cleaned head, exhaust manifold and pipe and planning on replacing the diverter valve. I'd like to block off the system at the manifold without codes coming up if at all possible, but be able to easily reset it for smog time.

Take the diverter valve out and draw a vacuum on it and see if it actually opens. Then verify you actually have a clear passage into the exhaust by blowing compressed air into the diverter valve outlet pipe to manifold.
