Default shifter is loose

My sky's manual shifter is loose. Ive taken the chrome plate off the top to expect a nut to tighten... But no. Has anyone had this issue and how did you fix it?

If it's anything like the S-Series or VUE manual transmissions, most likely the shifter bushing is broken or is getting ready to go.

We had the cables break in our 2005 VUE when my wife was on her way to work and had to have them replaced at the dealership for $132 and labor.

I'm willing to bet that the Sky Manual Trans has a similar setup when it comes to the shifter cables and shifter bushing. I always wondered WHY Saturn chose to use Plastic in their shifter cables and bushings. Yes, Plastic is durable, but Plastic wears out when it is put under this kind of stress. Stainless Steel cables, loops, and bushings would have been a better option.
