So I finally got around to dynoing my Red Line today. I had hoped for cooler weather (it was 60 degrees with 85% humidity) but at least it wasn't raining. The dyno tech had trouble with an erratic RPM signal so the first time he shutdown at 6250 which produced 235.03 hp and 208.90 tq. On the second run, he got it up to 6400 and saw 238.80 hp and 209.73 tq. Pleased with the results, and the fact that it sounded like my car might blow up, I opted out of a third run. Considering that it's rated 205 at the flywheel from the factory, I was thrilled to see 239 hp at the wheels. Now, I'm looking forward more than ever to get the Stage II upgrade and see what I put down.
Here is a small video I threw together of the dyno runs: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgjRmNi3TUc ... 2006 Ion Redline- GMPP Stage 2

Awesome!!! I'm looking forward to seeing what numbers the Stage II kit produces for you, as that is the only mod I have.

These cars are intentionally under rated from saturn for insurance reasons. Not only that, but every year redline seems to have a different tune, thus making different numbers at the wheels.

Thanks for the encouragment, Daver. I'm looking forward to Stage II also! Just out of curiosity, had you ever had your RL dynoed?

No, I haven't. That's one reason I'm anxious to see your numbers with Stage II installed.
By the way, you will enjoy the Stage II upgrade! ![]()

Stock, these cars are rather sedate, imo. Stage 2 really wales them up. Stage 2 on a 2.2 is just plain crazy. I haven't driven a tc cobalt, but I can only imagine what it's like at 350 hp once it's tuned.

236-242 in not un-normal for a stock Redline at the wheels. Not as sedate as the 205 factory crank rating.

From the dyno numbers I've seen on redlineforums.com, it's very possible the car is stock.

The car is stock except for a drop-in K&N filter. Since that dyno run, I've added a ZZP catless downpipe and I'm eager to get the GM Stage II before I dyno it again.

Since the body styles between the Ion and Ion Redline look pretty similar, I was actually wondering if I could get a motor and computer system for a Redline and put it in my 2004 Ion Sedan.
Totally speculation at this point. More than likely never gonna happen. Just wondering.
