you do know that after one model year they are no longer selling the astra in North America. i read on this forum less then 12,000 made it to the shores of Canada and the US. now even if that number was 15,000 it would still be sailing on the fail boat.
Astra=Titanic in north America

And the Cruze being the Astra replacement? What do you think of it all around. What kind of U.S. HP and Torque is this 1.8 putting out if you have that info.

Cruze......
Not as good as the astra as there is no preformance model in the range.However from the reports im hearing they arent that badly built and are value for money in terms of money. GMDAT has raised the bar with the Cruze and being on the delta platform its a well rounded car. However romours are floating that we will be getting a Hatch of the Cruze in Australia and that there is a possablity HSV (Preformance arm of Holden but owned by Tom Walkinshaw) are evaluating a business case for a HSV Cruze . Preformance is as follows for the Cruze : 140 HP ( 104 KW @6200 RPM) 129 LB-Force FT (176 NM Torque @ 3800 RPM) Unsure if thats the right torque conversion . More information can be found on the Holden site.

As is, nothing to offer the US market in torque and hp. A sedan is appealing and it's good looking.
Thanks for your opinion.

I have no idea why GM is stuck on the idea that we need 1.4L turbo or how thats the answer to all of our prayers. The Cruze, Astra or any car under 3,000lbs would be great with a 2.4L DI VVT. Again I think Daewoo did the body good I like the look. You'll get your hatch, and I hope you get your HSV.

Well I didn't spend any time looking into who all was involved with the design and it doesn't matter to me. It's all GM one way or the other. Now get busy and get to posting so your pictures show up on the page. By the way...you have a sweeeeet sweeeet car.

Welcome! My fiancee is Australian, so I'll be moving to Australia from America within the next year. I'll certainly miss owning a Saturn, but hopefully I can find a decent comparable car there.
