2005 ION-3 Sedan
Default Swaybar Size

The one part I neglected to change when I did the struts and control arm bushings was the sway bar bushings and now I need to do them. I'm looking at doing the Prothane bushings, but how in the world do I determine what size swaybar is installed in my 2005 ION3 with a MT? I called my local dealer and their response was to just buy the rubber replacements from them because they will fit. My response was I'd rather only replace them once.

Does anyone know how to tell the size other than getting under the car with a micrometer and doing a measurement?

REWARD EXCELLENCE!

PS: Not sure of the sizes but remember there are two front swaybars for the standard ION, FE1 suspension and FE2 suspension then you have the FE3 thats Redline only. So I'd jack up the front of the car and measure as close to the bushing and cap as possible.

Thanks for the responses. I'll measure it tonight so I can get the new bushings on order.

My ION3 with the FE2 suspension has a 22mm front swaybar. Lift up the carpet in your trunk, and you'll see a sticker with all the RPO codes for your car. Find the one that has "FE_"...that's your suspension package. If FE2, it's likely a 22mm front swaybar. FYI, I made a set of Prothane bushing work for my swaybar. I had to grind the bracket 1/8", and they bolted in perfectly. Part number for the 22mm bushings was 9.5108R.

Off to the trunk at lunch. Need to pick up a micrometer today as well. Thanks for the heads up on the Prothane bushing bracket.
