1997 SL2
|
I have a 97 SL2 with a manual transmission. About a month ago it would have problems starting if it was warm. After about an hour it would turn over no problem. It has progressively gotten worse to where now the temperature doesn't necessarily have anything to do with it. It wil click click click then start even cold now. Over the weekkend I had a stupid moment and locked my keys in the car while the auxiliary was on. Of coarse the battery died, Next morning recharged battery, that night pulled it off full and hooked the car back up. Nothing but clicks and lights and I know my engine was cool. Got mad went inside came out ten minutes later tried again and turned over no problem. I am guessing at this point ignition switch???? Someone please help.

If it is clicking, I doubt the switch is the issue. I would recommend checking the Battery cables and making sure they are not corroded, at the battery, starter and ground. If they are good, the starter solenoid is to be suspected. Replace the starter.
BTW....from now on, post stuff for your car in the S-series area. This is the L-series area. Mainly so you can get faster and better help. ... OMG this car is easy to work on! 2000 LW2 1998 Intrigue 1996 Caprice 1994 88 1986 GLHS
