Soldering any cable is highly suspect. If a terminal is loose, typically a cable is re-terminated...or more commonly, the replacement cable which comes with terminals...one side for battery, the other to solenoid terminal...is replaced.

But I do agree, that this electrical issue maybe cable related. We haven't heard back from the OP with an update.
