The main problem with the trans is the standard posts i see on here. Hard shifting. Lack of reverse sometimes and some slippage of gears.

Ive checked the fluids and keep them topped off. Had found a leak at the lower cooler line. Replaced that. Now i don't have any leaks from the trans. But im still having hard shifting, to the point it chirps the tires between gears and jerks my whole body. Its slamming hard enough that i'm worried about it hurting the half shafts and such.

I have contacted someone on here about a new valve body. It was priced at $220. I have seen a Craigslist post for a new trans of the same year and body/engine with 88,000 miles for $350. And if the price of a new valve body is 3/4 the price of a used trans i feel the trans would be a better route. I don't have a lot of money to spend. And this 180k mile beast is all i can use for transportation at the moment. Yes I am comfortable doing the sonnex valve body and input shaft nuts myself. But whatever option i take i only have one day to complete this. Basically i want to expand the options for a drop and fit used trans and would need info on what would be my choices.

Im currently in a 2000 SL1, 1.9l, Auto.. (Getting 22Mpg) Would need a list of what choices i have without having to replace the ECM/PCM or any other major components. I could do the VB option if I was 100% sure it would fix it. As I cant afford a new VB AND a trans. Unless someone had one for like $
