Thank you so much for your reply and apologies for posting in the wrong forum. Old brain here. I've a question for you regarding checking starter voltage. If I am out and about and have this issue, I can check that the starter is getting voltage by hanging a meter across it and turning the key to start without having to disconnect the purple wire from the starter. I would disconnect it to verify the voltage is at the level it's supposed to be, but with it connected I would still be able to verify that the control circuit works. Is this not correct, or have I missed something about the purple wire.


and I would also have a whack-em stick with me to knock some sense into it.
