po741 is an often misunderstood dtc...the term "stuck off" is not totally correct..it is stuck off due to the ecm or tcm in charge of tcc lock up making a decision that evan at 100% pwm on time it is still seeing the slip rate sail past the specification so it inhibits tcc operation to prevent engagement...as to the cause a weak 3rd or 4th gear or a heavly worn toque converter cluch will set this..to eliminate the 3rd or 4th gears you need to know the gear ratio and be able to not only see live data but the freeze frame records of when the dtc set..
