Re: '03 5spd - whirring noise that DOESN'T sound like a bad bearing

If you get the transmission out have you ever considered changing the 5th gear ratio? I have seen posts about that so I guess it could be done.

Re: Why would the AC compressor leak antifreeze?

My AC stopped working after it leaked, but because it was working bascially ok maybe it would be ok to add freon, if the compressor relay will kick in enough to allow it.

Re: Monroe Reflex struts on a RL?

The Monroe Reflexes I just put on are a bit stiffer than the stock and ride about an inch higher. Of course, this is comparing to the OEM shocks I removed, which might have worn out some.

I could...

Re: '02 Vue 2.2L Timing Chain Failure, Please Read!

I dont know if I could do it, under the carport at my apt, they don't want auto repairs and anything too noticeable might not be a good idea.

I try to listen to the engine closely at startup but...

Re: Will replacing valve seals stop oil use?

I think valve seals leak oil under decelleration, then smoke when you apply the gas.

Re: '02 Vue 2.2L Timing Chain Failure, Please Read!

I feel it might be good for me to at least try to take a look in there. There does seem to be more room in the engine bay than many cars, but I have never removed the plugs, much less the valve...

Re: '02 Vue 2.2L Timing Chain Failure, Please Read!

I guess that is why there isn't a recall. nevertheless it seems some people are just unlucky or something as I have read threads about Equinox engines with chain failures under 40k miles.

The...

Re: '02 Vue 2.2L Timing Chain Failure, Please Read!

I have recently read about a 2010 Cobalt with low mileage and chain failure.

It seems many of the GM Ecotec engines (2.0, 2.2, 2.4, 3.6, etc) are affected. The 2.2L has a number of failure points,...

Re: Lo Idle AC mystery solved.

I have a leak somewhere on my compressor but only 65K miles. I wonder if
this could the problem. A little plate on the back side of the compressor with two bolts holding it on. I have a 4 cyl, 07.

Re: Wheel size for tires

Myself and others on this forum would not be inclined to put smaller tires on, but if you only drive around town a little they probably wouldn't hurt.

They would not be what you want if you want...

Re: Bridgestone Duelers, are they THAT noisy?/wheel prep?

was that 4 tires for $220? that is indeed a bargain. I think I paid about 110 each for the ContiPro's I got from Walmart, and I thought they were a pretty good deal.

Re: 2007 or 2008?? Please help

Well the redline has lower ground clearance, so you are getting away from
AWD or bad weather capablity, but more of a performance and handling. I've thought about
dropping mine an inch to get a...

Re: Idling Damage

It's not hard to find mosquito netting in the camping section of a store, or maybe you could use some of that radiator screen they sell at auto stores.

They used to say that idling too much might...

Re: Well All, it's been a pleasure..

well, you are right. I checked on the web site randyreedbuickgmc.com, and actually the model they have for 18K is the 2.4 I4, the others are 3.0 V6.

They are probably rentals, like you say, I...

Re: Well All, it's been a pleasure..

There is a dealer in Kansas City advertising 2012 Chevy Captiva's off lease for $18,000, they probably have 15-20K miles, standard rental car amenities--Auto, power, cruise, but no sunroof. Probably...

Re: Well All, it's been a pleasure..

I think the Equinox is quite a bit heavier than the VUE at over 3700 lbs.

I know it is about 6 inches longer, but I wonder how much the all steel body has to do with the weight.

Now that fuel...

Re: green oil on the bottom of the A/C compressor

I don't know if I should attempt something like that. Other threads on this topic seem to suggest these leaks may not be a problem at first. Then if I time things right I replace just the compressor...

Re: Throwing P0455 after gas cap replacement

I went out there and sprayed some silicone spray on a kleenex, and used it to rub the gasket on the cap and also the metal neck of the filler where the gaskets seals. Both places left quite a mark on...

Re: Throwing P0455 after gas cap replacement

I got the code once, but only once, since I bought locking cap from NAPA.

I wonder if all of these problems blamed on the caps are actually something else in the evaporative system, a hose,...

Re: Tire Size

It would slow your engine down just a tad, which you may or may not like.
It won't change it very much and I don't think the tire will rub the fender or anything. There are people on this forum that...

Re: green oil on the bottom of the A/C compressor

Is this normal for a VUE with only 65K miles? How can I check on how much has leaked so far?

green oil on the bottom of the A/C compressor

Now that it's a little warmer out I was out in the garage looking under the VUE to see what has been making an oil spot under the right front side ...
there is some kind of green (almost looks like...

Re: Havening problems setting up scangauge II

I hope I bought the right one, based on reviews here on this forum it seemed like the best OBDC gauge for the money, versatility, etc.

The Quick start guide says... step 3 Turn the vehicle on.....
