Re: Swapping the ECU with a Euro ECU kit version..thoughts?

Good luck!

If you change the radio, I think you need to decouple the center screen from the original car then pair it to the new car.

I don't know the differences between the UK and US Astras....

Re: Cutting access port for fuel pump. Yes? No?

I didn't realise we don't have the cutout. Then again, when flipping the back seats, I don't remember seeing it.

Not sure if it is easier to drop the tank or build new cutout.

If you drop the...

Re: Airflow issue? Please help.

Misfire might be from spark plugs (check service manual as replacement is 25k or 30k). If plugs are not replaced on schedule, the increasing gap tends to stress and kill the coil pack. So those are...

Re: Blower motor resistor question

The specs are printed on the part for both OEM resistor packs I have owned. I might have posted the specs here but your parts could be different I suppose. I found 5 for a dollar at a retail...

Re: Blower motor resistor question

You can test the old blower resistor with a simple multimeter to determine if the thermal fuse is open or is still good. Just check resistance around the terminals and it will be obvious where ground...

Re: Front Struts and hardware availability issues

You should put the struts up for sale now and just get them off your hands.

Bilstein makes awesome products. No importing hassle, wait or risk either. So should sell relatively quickly.

Do you...

Re: couple questions

No idea for the wiper blade. I purchased a new wiper arm from Europe via eBay.

The military time is not changeable. That is how Europeans set their clocks and GM did not adjust that for the North...

Re: Front Struts and hardware availability issues

Glad your struts finally arrived FS. RockAuto had the "XE" front struts and rear shocks in stock so that was an easier process (they also had the XR rear shocks). Springs are now a different story...

Re: Been a long time....

Some popular Astra issues that you can search here that might be of interest, some more related to your code than others:

- Some had problems at the fuel filler. There might be a GM tech note on...

Re: Been a long time....

Great!

I don't know the "recommended" safety procedures for starting a modern car off long-term storage. A few random things I have seen and heard.

Before starting, consider changing out the...

Re: Front Struts and hardware availability issues

There are a few options so no worries:

- You may find 2 XR Sport springs used in a local junkyard (or one that ships). The junkyard may identify these are XR or XE but AFAIK the only obvious XR...

Re: How To - Timing Belt Replacement

My buddy and I did our timing belts at the same time. On my car it was a breeze. He had a real tough time getting his timing belt on; we used the same tools and procedure so not sure why his was so...

Re: Front Struts and hardware availability issues

This weekend, replaced suspension bits on a 5-door XE with OEM 16" steel wheels. The XR and sport suspensions seem a bit lowered, so keep that in mind wrt part numbers below.

On disassembly, rear...

Re: Astra 45k mile service - inexpensive & runs like new!

We did a major service on the Astra Saturday. Took about 2.5 hours total, including set up and clean up, thanks to a truck mechanic buddy at his garage (with 2 "helpers" and all the tools). The...

In a quick internet search part 93357605 indicates fit to XE & XR without specifying number of doors.

But I thought this question was asked here recently.

Search the forums. Call a Chevy...

Re: Help with Astra p0420 and p1101 codes

The cylinder head and spark plug photos indicate oil on the top of the spark plug but the electrodes look clean. I would strongly suspect the valve cover gasket is failing around that round spark...

Re: Help with Astra p0420 and p1101 codes

For P0420, a leaky flex pipe is a popular cause here. Several of us resolved by welding in a new flexy section. Search the forums.

Also, the spark plug replacement interval recommended by GM is...

Re: Battery draining tips during lockdown

Does anyone know where J116 is located? It brings 12v from the underhood fusebox (fuse 36) to the display/onstar etc. It is illustrated in the schematics above.

Thanks.
