Re: Raised hood, ventilation?

I've never heard of that, it's always been guys trying to "let the hot air out", in my experience.

Re: Rear brake caliper bracket bolt spec

Did you get 10.9, or 8.8? Look for 10.9 as I mentioned before. Almost all automotive stuff id 10.9. You don't want cheaper soft bolts.

Edit: You don't want stainless either..... they're soft.

Re: Raised hood, ventilation?

That was popular in Japan a few years ago, I've read.

You may have cooling issues, since the base of the windshield is a high pressure zone, you'll likely force air into the engine bay making it...

Re: The Best Power Steering Fluid

I have a couple of those, but without the extension. I think mine were originally sold for a different purpose. I think I got them out of the trash someplace. They've been rolling around in the...

Re: Rear brake caliper bracket bolt spec

I wondered the same thing when I was considering doing the swap. Ultimately, I chose to rebuild the drums.

I think the easiest thing to do would be to try the bolts from the front, and then...

Re: The Best Power Steering Fluid

PS fluid is something I have not changed on my Saturn. Good to know that people are using ATF, since that's what I'm used to using in my truck even though it's not a GM approved fluid.

Maybe I'll...

Re: What to look for when looking to buy a Vue?

So I looked at it today:

More scratches than the pictures show.

Exhaust seemed a little loose, but wasn't loud.

Transmission looked a little wet underneath. (It did go into reverse)

Re: What to look for when looking to buy a Vue?

Hmm, this is at an auction house, and I won't be able to drive it. I might be able to put it in gear.... I wonder if the local Chevy dealer could tell me if the work has been done.

Yes, all...

Re: Anybody have experience doing rear brakes on SL2s?

Here's my thread: http://www.saturnfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=266634

Assuming, are your parts are solid, it's pretty easy. I took both sides apart at the same time, but took bad pictures...

Re: Before and After Headlights 1997 SL1

They look great! I went the other way, and simply replaced mine.... I had one of the low beams shrouds broken off and rattling around, so even if I had polished them, they would not have been right...

What to look for when looking to buy a Vue?

Re: Anybody have a good guide for replacing the rear hub assembly on a 2001 SL2?

I think the rear knuckles are all the same...... my 2000 has the ears and bolt holes for discs. People have made the swap to discs before. I considered doing it, but it was more expensive than just...

Re: Anybody have a good guide for replacing the rear hub assembly on a 2001 SL2?

Wow, I think that might be even crustier then mine.

Still, I'd try drilling that bolt out with progressively larger drill bits after center punching it.

Re: Radiators: anyone tried a fully welded alum ebay radiator?

A thicker/thinner core doesn't necessarily mean a lot. Radiators work better with larger/wider tubes, but tubes can be spaced out further making a wider core and is not ideal. My current TYC...

Re: Radiators: anyone tried a fully welded alum ebay radiator?

If I needed a new radiator, I'd likely buy a Denso or TYC. I've never purchased a cheap all aluminum radiator, but I'd assume they're generic parts from China.

The Denso and TYC will likely...

Re: Anybody have a good guide for replacing the rear hub assembly on a 2001 SL2?

What do you mean "for inspection"? State inspection?

I removed both mine, and replaced one, on my 2000 SL2 with drums. The hardest part was removing them. They were rusted in place pretty well....

Re: Flaky Rotor

The rotors that I took off my car looked like that, but the car had been sitting a year so I didn't think too much of it.

I hope the rotors on my truck don't do that.... those are a major pain to...

Re: What did you do to your S-Series today...

Cleaned and reinstalled the two plastic covers for the steering column. I removed them awhile back to try and figure out why the steering wheel was moving in and out. I didn't get that figured out,...

Re: Telescoping wheel?

Ok here's what I've done so far..... I removed the plastic shroud from around the steering column, and I found that those two bolts are loose. That's the reason the column rotates. I've replaced...

Re: Telescoping wheel?

The air bag kinda scares me..... I have no idea how to pull it, and not set it off.

The gap the the steering wheel is extended is between the wheel and the plastic shroud on the column.

Re: Telescoping wheel?

Maybe I'll remove the plastic and take a look, but that looks like a different problem. Mine does rotate, but what I'm concerned about is in and out.... like a telescoping wheel.
